Children & families

We all work with adults, adolescents, children, and families who have a range of difficulties. Over the years we have been trained in a variety of evidenced based treatments. This allows us together, to work out which approach and what set of strategies, will work best for you and your family. This process begins with a shared understanding of what is happening, through identifying the way our thoughts, feelings and behaviours impact on one another.

The first session focuses on gathering information on your concerns, and working towards developing a plan for the following sessions. We will agree together what your goals are for you and your family, and what you would like to be different.

Over the course of our time together you will learn a variety of strategies which will enable you to feel confident in applying them in the future, should stressful situations or behaviours reappear.

On meeting with you together we will begin to explore which approach would be most effective for you and your family.

Attachment and trauma

Unfortunately there are families who will experience traumatic events which may impact upon relationships within the family, school and your children’s friendship. We have tried as a team too develop a range of approaches drawing upon research and clinical experience.

Parenting

We are all trained in a variety of parenting programmes designed to strengthen family relationships and reduce behavioural difficulties. These programmes are changed accordingly to your families needs. Parenting is challenging sometimes exploring and developing new strategies can make a huge difference.

Worry and sadness

Experiences, events and relationships shape who we are. Sometimes children and young people may have difficulties working through an event or developing skills. This may cause your child to worry, seem preoccupied or sad. Exploring and working through such moments alongside developing strategies and skills can be helpful for your child both now and in the future.
